Suffolk University and the Center for Career Equity, Development & Success’ Healthcare & Wellness Career Community welcomed St. George’s University Medical School for an engaging Suture Clinic that gave healthcare & wellness students a hands-on introduction to medical training.
The workshop, hosted in collaboration with Casey Marcelin the Assistant Director of Career Communities: Healthcare & Wellness, Karla Lopes from St. George’s University, and Dr. M. Eugenia L. Gold, offered participants the chance to practice clinical skills while learning about more pathways to medical school. Students also had the unique opportunity to connect directly with healthcare professionals and hear about real-world experiences in the field.

A highlight of the event was a presentation from Dr. Lauren Sussman, a physician at Massachusetts General Hospital, who shared her inspiring journey from St. George’s University to her current role in medicine.
Events like these are invaluable for helping students envision their own futures in healthcare. The event was a tremendous success, sparking excitement among Suffolk students who are eager to pursue careers in medicine or medical adjacent fields. The Center for Career Equity, Development Success continues to provide meaningful opportunities for students to learn, network, and prepare for their professional futures.

From Our Students:
“The opportunity to learn in a hands-on but low-pressure environment was confidence-building and an excellent learning experience.”
Looking Ahead:
The healthcare & wellness career community also has several more exciting opportunities for students this fall.
